IF your are more intelligent more than your master never let your action show thus. The favours you receive from your master never let it go to your head and you start misbehaving as this is so important to your career.
French finance minister Fouquet unintentional outshone his master King Louis XIV,making the king feel insecure by throwing a lavish party to showcase his connections, cultivated manners and charm. He thought his action will make the king deem him as indispensable but things backfired when the king felt unsecured. The king the finds a convenient excuse and got rid of fouquet.
A person can still showcase his talent and impress his talent and impress his master rather than outshining him by ascribing or dedicating his works to him.
For example, when Galileo discovered the moons of Jupiter he dedicated it to the Medici family, whose royal symbol is Jupiter. He further made an emblem for them with each moon representing the sons devil in around the patriarch. The Medici family became his major patron, appointing him their official philosopher, thus, providing him with a more comfortable life and a steady salary eradicating his perennial problem of FUNDING.
lessons: Present your work in such ways that echoes the thought of the master.
Never let the favour you receive go to your head.
